We offer the two-year Take Flight program designed for children and young adults with dyslexia and other related language disorders. This comprehensive program is best conducted in person, either at school or in our office; however, we do offer a remote learning option when in-person sessions are not possible. This program is ideal for students who are not achieving their reading skills through standard educational methods and would benefit from alternative reading education approaches. Students who received Take Flight instruction showed significant growth in all areas of reading and maintained gains in word reading and text comprehension years after treatment.
Designed for young students with early detection of dyslexia or other reading disabilities, the Build Program provides reading education both before and alongside classroom education. I offer assessments for parents or teachers who have noticed a child’s inability or difficulty in reading at a young age. This program is most effective because it helps students establish good habits from the beginning, allowing them to develop reading skills, alphabet skills, letter/sound knowledge, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension.
We offer ongoing reading education for individuals or small groups of children who are the same age and have the same or similar reading levels. These classes are best conducted in person, either at school or in my office; however, remote learning options are available when in-person sessions are not possible. I find that 45-60 minute classes, held two to three times a week, are the most effective, depending on the current reading level and the pathway to reaching the desired reading skills. I follow the Rite Flight program, which I have found to be the most effective for improving accuracy, automaticity, and rate to enhance prosody.
While many reading disabilities are detected early in the education process, some students reach higher grade levels undetected. This program is designed to help older students retrain, break bad habits, and develop the skills necessary to achieve grade-level reading abilities. This age-appropriate program focuses on key areas that will enhance their reading skills required for all learning, expanding to word use and fluency. It provides them with a broader skill set to support their success in higher education.
Vmath boasts several advantages that effectively engage students in learning math. It introduces a fresh and enjoyable approach to making math accessible to all learners. These advantages, collectively known as the Vmath Advantage, encompass consistency, vocabulary, and visual models, which have consistently been shown to propel students to higher levels of competence in math. The meticulously designed four-step Vmath lesson format perfectly aligns with the significant components of explicit instruction, significantly enhancing students' understanding of math concepts, skills, and procedures.
TransMath® 3rd is a robust math intervention program designed to bridge the "math gap" for middle and high school students. It effectively addresses the needs of students who lack foundational computational and problem-solving skills, struggle with the pace of grade-level material, are two or more years below grade level based on a high-stakes test, and would be unsuccessful in Algebra I without intervention. The program provides comprehensive instruction in foundational computational skills and offers rich, grade-level problem-solving experiences to ensure students succeed on high-stakes assessments.
